Start With a Strong Foundation for Your New Lawn

A new build, a septic replacement, or a week of excavation all leave you with the same thing: bare soil, and usually a lot of it. Hand-broadcasting seed across that much open ground rarely ends well here. The first real rain carries it downhill, birds take their share, and what survives comes up in patches you spend two summers trying to even out. New lawn hydroseeding works differently. The seed arrives already bound into a protective layer that holds it exactly where it lands, including on slopes, curves, and the awkward corners a spreader never covers properly. NuroTurf installs new lawns this way across Whatcom, Skagit, and Snohomish counties.

Why Hydroseeding Is a Better Way to Grow

Hydroseeding offers a faster, more efficient way to establish a thick, healthy lawn with consistent coverage across your property. The specially blended mixture of grass seed, mulch, fertilizer, and water helps protect the seed, retain moisture, and encourage strong root development. It is an ideal solution for new lawns, large areas, slopes, and lawn restoration projects.

Seed that stays put. The tackifier resists the runoff that washes loose seed off graded ground during an atmospheric river.

Every corner covered. Applied under pressure, the slurry reaches into low spots and up banks at a consistent rate.

Moisture through dry spells. The mulch layer acts like a blanket, keeping the seedbed damp so germination does not stall in August.

A blend for your site. We mix ryegrass for quick cover and fescue for shade and drought tolerance, rather than one bag for every job.

The Way We Work

Site visit and quote

We walk the area, check grade and drainage, and give you a price. There is no charge for the visit, and we will tell you what the ground needs first.

Your prep, then spray day

You grade and rake to a loose seedbed. We arrive and spray, and most residential lawns are finished in a single morning or afternoon.

Water, then mow

Short, frequent watering for the first two to three weeks, then the first mow at around three inches, usually three to four weeks in.

Watering is the one thing that decides the outcome.
Short and frequent beats one long soak.

When New Lawn Hydroseeding Is the Right Call

Bare soil left behind by a new build, an addition, or a garage pad

Compacted subsoil and tire ruts after a week of excavation

Banks, swales, and ditch lines where loose seed washes downhill

Dense glacial till that holds water in February and bakes hard in August

Ground churned up by a septic replacement or a utility trench

Open areas past a few thousand square feet, where sodding gets expensive fast

Awkward strips around driveways, foundations, and fence lines

What to Expect After Spray Day

Ryegrass in the blend usually shows within five to ten days. Fescues and bluegrass take longer, often two to three weeks, so the lawn thickens gradually rather than arriving all at once. Expect six to eight weeks to a properly established surface.

Spring through early June and late August through October are the strongest windows in Washington. We spray outside those months when the schedule calls for it. If your ground needs work before seed goes down, we would rather flag it at the quote stage than after, because seed cannot fix drainage.

Hydroseeding questions, answered.

Every property is different, but these are the questions most customers ask before getting started.

You will see green within one to two weeks, but the lawn is not ready for real use until it has been mowed two or three times. Plan on six to eight weeks from spray day before you are hosting anything on it.

Spring and early autumn. Soil is warm enough for germination, and rainfall does some of the watering for you. Midsummer is possible if you can commit to consistent irrigation, and deep winter is best avoided because cold soil stalls germination.

Yes, and the gap widens as the area grows. Sod gives you an instant lawn, which suits small spaces. Hydroseeding costs less, covers uneven ground better, and produces a lawn grown in your own soil.

Keep them off entirely until after the first mow. Foot traffic on soft, freshly germinated grass tears the seedlings and leaves thin patches that are slow to fill in.
